Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision (Sunburst) - PRICE DROP ***

Sign in to disble this ad
*** Price Drop: $1100 ***

Beautiful Fender Tony Franklin Fretless Precision Bass in Sunburst finish. Bass features a P/J pickup configuration with an unlined Ebony finger board. It has been strung with flats since I bought it new, so there is no finger board wear. The neck is straight and gives that characteristic singing/Mwaah fretless tone from the Jazz pickup (even with flats).

This bass has the following modifications/upgrades:

• Tuners replaced with Hipshot Ultralites – this helps the bass balance and reduces neck dive, not to mention the weight by 0.5 lb.
-- The stock tuners (including the Drop D) will be included.
• Tug bar/thumb rest was installed below the G string for a more vintage look.
• Black volume/tone knobs installed (original knobs will be included)

Includes:
• Newer style Fender/SKB molded hard shell case
• Strap, cable, & polish cloth
• Truss rod tool & hang tags
• Stock tuners & knobs

The bass is in excellent condition and plays great. Price is $1100 shipped in the CONUS with Verified PayPal account. No Trades Please. Below is a link to the Musicians Friend description.

Nice!
Do these "franklins" have a regular 70's type C neck (1.65" nut width)? Fat meaty neck (front to back)?

I had one just like it with the same Hipshot tuner change. Awesome basses.

One of my favorite basses. The only one I've ever bought, sold and then bought again.

bump for a great fretless. I need to do that tuner swap-out change on mine, too, as I have no use for the Drop D. Would be nice to drop the headstock weight some.

Tuners?

How easy would it be to go back to the original tuners? It looks like you changed bushings. Did you have to ream the holes or do any other mods? Tx.

There should be no problem going back to the original tuners. I have all the original parts and there was no drilling or anything. They just dropped right in.

Also, there are no dings, dents or scratches. Just some minor swirling as is normally seen on a bass that's been played for a while. The bass rarely leaves the house though (part of why I'm selling it).

They have the 1.625" width at the nut. They don't feel as "meaty" front to back as some 70's P basses I've played. The profile seems similar to the current crop of P basses.

It's a 2007 model year. The bridge and both pups are stock as well.

John

I love this bass, from the pics and design. I love the p bass pu with the bridge jazz thing. Sweet. I need an extra $1100. Good luck.

Someone buy this bass!!! It is simply the best fretless bass a rock bassist can own. Tone is stellar, quality is near Custom Shop level (I know because I have a CS jazz and one of these TFs). If you've ever thought about fretless bass, get this one now.
