Fender USA 60th Anniv. Jazz w/ Custom Shop 60s Pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
Fender American Jazz Bass in Butterscotch finish with Maple fret board. It’s a 2006 60th Anniversary model in excellent condition with a great neck. The bass has the Fender S-1 Switch and sounds thick and deep when engaged.

The Fender Custom Shop 60s Pickups I had installed really round out the bass and give it rich, punchy tone. I also swapped out the chrome control plate for a black one, to match the pickguard.

This bass has some typical player wear. There are scratches on the pickguard (previous owner played with a pick) and a scratch on the back of about one inch that does not go through the clear coat. I included pictures of the wear although the one on the back is difficult to see.

Original Fender hard shell case included. No trades.

Price is $800 shipped in the CONUS ($825 if shipped to the west coast region) and PayPal is fine.

60TH JAZZ

Do you have the original switchplate? The S-1 switches I have seen are located on the switchplate which I don't see in your pics. Where on the bass is it located.

I have the original switch plate and will include it as well. The Fender factory installed S-1 switch is located on top of the first volume knob. You push down on the top of the knob to engage the switch. There is nothing unique about the control plate. I just ordered a generic black control plate from basspartsresources.com and installed it.

The S-1 switch on jazz basses puts the pickups in series mode relative to each other. The normal mode is parallel and the switch allows you to toggle between the two modes. Its not a pre-amp and the bass is passive. Its like the two pickups become one big pickup instead of two separate ones.

In practical terms, it goes from normal jazz bass mode to a "bigger-thicker" sound. Some would say it sounds more like a P bass in this mode. I supposed I can see that, but I mainly play P basses and only a P sounds like a P to me. There is a fair bit of discussion on the subject in Pickups and Electronics forum if you would like a homework assignment.
