Fender Victor Bailey Fretless - SOLD

SOLD

Ok folks, you know it. You love it! The Fender Victor Bailey Jazz Fretless. Most likely the finest Jazz bass Fender makes. This VB is a 2005 model that I bought new last October of 2007 from MusiciansFriend. I guess you can call it "New Old Stock".

This is one of the finest fretless basses I have ever owned. She is a beautiful instrument. The Koa top and the Koa laminate on the headstock make this a classy bass. This bass has been babied since the day I got it. If has only seen a few gigs, and there are no issues with this bass. It even still has the clear plastic on the rear control and battery covers.

The neck plays like a dream, super fast. Also there is a coating on the fretboard. Not sure what it is, but I think it is what ever they use on the rest of the neck. This bass features the SCN pickups with Fender's 18V 3-band preamp. All the hardware is gold plated, even the strap locks. Very sharp!

Ok, why?? Well, I have a Sadowsky NYC fretless coming to me soon. So I just can't justify keeping both.

Here are the specs:
  • Koa and Rosewood Over Mahogany Body
  • Modern "C" shape neck,
  • Rosewood fingerboard, 9.5" radius (241mm)
  • Fretless, 22 inlaid white fretline markers
  • 2 Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups
  • Controls: Master Volume, Pan Pot, 3-Band Active EQ with:
  • Treble Boost/Cut: +/- 10 db @ 8kHz, a shift in the cut frequency, and about a 2dB slope per octave.
  • Mid Boost/Cut: +10dB, -15dB @ 500Hz, and a wide band slope.
  • Bass Boost/Cut: +/- 12 db @ 40 Hz, with a 4dB slope per octave.
  • Pickup Switching: Pan Pot
  • Deluxe gold plated steel bridge plate, (strings-thru-body or top load), with gold plated brass saddles
  • Fender/Schaller Deluxe Lite-Bass Tuning Machines
  • Gold plated hardware
  • Koa Headstock Overlay,
  • Victor Bailey graphic on headstock,
  • 5 countersunk neck bolts
  • carved asymetrical heel for better upper register access
  • Posiflex graphite neck support rods
  • Abalone dot position inlays
  • Rolled fingerboard edges
  • Highly detailed nut work
  • Side dot position markers centered between fretlines

It also comes with a beautiful G&G case with all the hang tags and goodies.

Here is a live clip from a show at Hard Rock's jazz club here in Florida. This was recorded straight from the board via the DI out on my amp.

SOUND CLIP

These basses are going new at a premium, most like due the rising cost of Koa. New one of these will set you back $1900.

Save $600, for sale only (no trades) for $1330 Shipped, in the US only. I prefer PayPal. Other payment types would have to wait to clear before shipping.

I've sold a number of basses here, so just click the feedback to read all the comments.

Ok, the photos (the colors vary due to some were shot inside and outside):

That's perty. I bet a VB would look really BA with black hardware. I always thought gold was a little pretentious, but it is pretty in stage lights!

Nice axe...

I still think that is the nicest looking of all your Jazz basses. That price is quite reasonable!

IMHO lines on a fretless bass are like 'teets' on a boar hog...I'd jump on this in a second if it did not have those lines...they just confuse me. Beautiful bass by the way

You could always paint over them!! Either way though, it is a incredibly great sounding bass.
