FERNANDES Japan FRB-100 (APB5) 5-String - Ash Body, Active J's, MINT!

SOLD!!!

Note: please post all questions, inquiries, etc on this "megathread": Survivor: Bass Island - 30 Days, 29 basses for sale, only one will remain - Updated!

This is a rare Fernandes FRB100/APB5 - made in Japan in the 90's. The FRB100 was the Japan market version, the APB-5 was sold in the US...pretty sure they're identical. This is a killer bass, very underrated (Rocco played one of these basses for a while). The ash grain is sweet, the neck is fast, the action is low and the bass sounds fantastic; the stock active pickups are very similar to EMG's but without the clacky highs. This bass is in mint condition aside from a blem on the end of the headstock; the previous owner had glued a signed pick to the headstock and when I pulled it off, the "Yamaha" emblem on the pick stayed in the glue. I'm pretty sure it's superglue, so some low heat + acetone should get it off (I'll attempt it if you'd like me to). Specs:

Body: 2-piece Ash
Neck: Maple Bolt-on w/Rosewood Fingerboard, 24 frets
Pickups: Fernandes FGI Active
Preamp/EQ: Fernandes 2-Band
Tuners: Gold Gotoh
Bridge: Gold, single screw adjustment (VERY cool), high mass, 18mm spacing
Scale: 34" (still has a tight low B!)

These basses listed for $1400 back in the early 90's. Selling this one for $475 shipped in the continental US w/gig bag ($25 more for a non-matching hardshell case). International shipping is fine, just PM me for a ship quote. PayPal is preferred. No trades right now (unless it's REALLY good!).

A bump for a beautiful bass that likely came out of the FujiGen guitar factory like most of the Ibanez Soundgear-esque basses in the 1990's. The transparent finish is showing off some serious grain and a friend at the time had the four-string version that rocked hard! I also remember playing a mid-'90s Ibanez with the same bridge and walking away seriously impressed with the ease of adjustment vs amount of mass. Absolutely a quality bass.
