Fodera Monarch 6 custom, 1 mo old

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I've decided to put my brand new Monarch 6 up for sale. The guys at Fodera and I had some miscommunication about a few details, and sadly it didn't come out how I intended. It's an incredible instrument, and sounds better than the Imperial 5 I'm keeping, but it isn't quite right for me.

The specs:
Monarch 6
16.5mm spacing at the bridge
33" scale
Mahogany body, chambered
Ash tone block
Katalox top/back, headstock front/back
Wenge/purpleheart 5-pc neck
Birdseye maple fretboard with 28 frets
Face dots
Full radiused matching pickup covers
Matching radiused ramps in between pickups (removable)
Black hardware (brass Hipshot bridge, Fodera tuners)
Mike Pope preamp with side jack (rare)
Lane Poor HB pickups (removable; see note below) (bridge in 60's position)
Emperor knob layout
Fodera teardrop case

The Lane Poor pickups in there currently can come with it, but I will swap them for the pickup of your choice FOR FREE (assuming you aren't asking for $750 Aeros or something). The ramps are built such that the pickups are removable, and I'm happy to do that for you at no cost.

The wenge neck is the bee's knees. I wish I had it on the Imperial I'm keeping. Along with the chambered body, it gives the bass a ton of woody presence, body and life to the sound. I would order my next Fodera with a wenge neck in a second, even if I normally don't gravitate towards it with other basses. I ordered it because I loved the two other older Wenge-necked Foderas I've played over the years.

The full radiused playing surface is incredible to play on. My other Imperial has the same thing and I can't get enough of it. If you don't dig it, though, they pop right off.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM/email me.

The retail cost on the bass is about $17200...not counting the cost of the additional two matching removable ramps.

I'm asking $13500 with the case. I'll cover shipping in the CONUS for regular rates, and I'll even split overnight shipping. I'm happy to ship anywhere in the world, though we'd have to discuss shipping on that. There's a little wiggle room.

Thanks! It hurts to sell it. :\

So I skimmed through the description and saw 750 and thought hmm odd. Then I saw the real price. Absolutely stunningly gorgeous bass but holy shitskies. I knew foderas were expensive but I never knew they went that high. Good luck with the sale tho! If I was a millionaire I'd buy it and 6 others for every day of the week

Nice indeed. Curious to know what detail the Fodera missed out on which made you want to sell this beauty? Truly out of this world woods were used I'm sure.

Incredible bass! Too bad its a 6, otherwise I would be seriously interested. Good luck, too bad you have to sell it!

Captain Obvious here, but that is an incredible instrument. I've seen or played so many instruments that I've gotten jaded...but this one moves me.

If I had a chance to own such a beauty Fodera I would have store it deep in my closet forever -- It would have no chance to meet sunlight at all!
Guests have to pay $10 for each visit of my Fodera~lol~no photo taking!

I would say a difference of interpretation of the body style. It wasn't what it was intended to be, so unfortunately it isn't quite right for my needs. Happens.

The bass is just incredible though, so it hurts. It really does. It sounds so good.

Joey at Fodera said he liked it a lot better than my maple body/ash neck/katalox MG/Imperial with the same pickup configuration. Even he thinks it sounds better than the one I'm keeping!

I'm curious what does it weigh with a chambered mahogany body?
As far as I know Foderas are among the medium-weight range.

One Fodera was 10.8lbs, the other was 10.2- I believe this bass was the 10.2lbs, but I'll have to double check just in case. Thanks for the question, though!

the only bad thing about this bass is that it may take a little while to sell so everyday, day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute, it will be on this thread and I will HAVE to take another look and marvel at it.

...sigh...

I've got two kidneys still, so for the moment I don't have much use for it.
