Fodera NYC 5-string - SOLD

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a mint Fodera NYC 5-string bass that I purchased about one year ago. I played it for several weeks, and then went back to studying and playing the doublebass almost exclusively (due to a musical opportunity that called for DB).

This bass plays and sounds excellent. The neck is incredibly comfortable and fast. In passive mode, the tone leans toward a more traditional Jazz bass, but in active mode this bass is most impressive (to my ears). The finger-funk and slap tones are amazing. The low freq part of the active circuit can be used to drive a very deep, warm sound as well. There's quite a bit of diversity in sounds that can be produced with the instrument. However, it sits unplayed in its case in my climate-controlled music room, and I cannot envision it coming out of the case for duty anytime in the near future. I just don't have a use for it currently, so I'd like to see it go to a good home and be played.

I paid $3K for the bass and then had it set up locally. My price for the bass is $2300 shipped - seems very reasonable for a bass of this quality. It will not disappoint. Here are the specs:

34" Scale
Ash Body
3 piece Hard Maple Neck
Maple Fingerboard
Angled Peghead
Duncan JJ Pickups
Pope-Fodera Active Circuit
Vintage Sunburst (tobacco burst) Finish
Gold Fodera Hardware - Bridge and Tuners
Comes with OHSC

I would prefer an outright sale, although I would consider trading toward a Shen 7/8 Willow Gemunder upright with X braces (I know, it's a long shot). I would be willing to add money into a deal for the Shen.

I do not have audio samples of this particular instrument, but I did find some on the web when I purchased this bass. The samples I have are a good representation of the various tones produced from this instrument. I can send the audio samples and additional photos upon request.

I live in the Boston area. If interested, you are welcome to come to my home and play the bass in person.

Thanks.

Bump.

I will consider reasonable offers on the Fodera NYC.

Also, shipping within the CONUS only.

Roth for your Fodera

Would you consider a trade for a 1956 Ernest Heinrich Roth double bass hand made in Germany with professional bag with wheels? I have photos I can send and an appraisal from a reputable shop here is town as to the condition of the bass.

Bump.

I've had some interest, but not as much as I expected. This is a great bass.

Lowest price I'll go is $2000 + actual shipping costs (should be approx. $75).

I'll keep the bass if it does not sell at this price.

Thanks.
