--- SOLD ---
I REALLY don't WANT to sell this bass, but I don't play 4 string basses anymore, and selling this bass is the best way to quickly pay for a new six string bass I want to get before someone else does.
I seriously doubt I have to say much about Victor Wooten's signature bass. In fact, many of you may know as much or more about this bass as I do.
o 34 inch scale length
o 19mm (3/4") string spacing
o Alder body with a holly and ebony top
o Maple neck and finger board
o EMG P and J pickups
o Mike Pope preamp
o Strap locks
I am the original owner.
The bass is in flawless, showroom condition. In fact, it has spent most of its life in its case on a shelf in our band room.
I own several basses, and seriously, I don't play 4 stringers anymore, so this bass has had very little playing.
It has been gigged only once, and has never been near smoke -- or alcohol for that matter.
$6,500 shipped.

| | | Guys - he didn't say he "doesn't OWN any other 4 strings". He said "I don't play my 4 strings any more". He also said the "selling the Fodera is the QUICKEST was to pay for the new 6 string he wants". The Fodera will sell for a lot more than the other 4's he has, so that makes sense.
Read. Comprehend. Enjoy. And don't always think that the "black copters are circling you".
PS - beautiful bass collection !

That last photo was to help emphasize how little playing time the Fodera has had.
If you have one or two basses, you play them every day. If you've got a bunch, and you don't play 4 strings anymore, then you only play them when a specific occasion arises.

I clicked the link in your signature and I've been listening to Noelle Hampton's Thin Line album ever since. Nice work, and nice album.
I thought it was a little ironic, as I listened to Blackwing BUTTERFLY, that I happened across the song while selling a FODERA! :-)

| | | | That bass is incredible. What makes basses like these so expensive? Can you get something a third the price that plays as nice?

I don't play my VW Monarch that much but it is probably the most perfect bass ever built.

Thanks - glad you like it ! Noelle is amazingly talented- Andre, the guitar player is incredible too - and they are just fantastic people. We just got back from San Francisco doing a gig and a radio show (KPIG)...tons of fun !
BTW - Alaska is the only state that I haven't been to. I definitely need to go there someday. My parents, who have been all over the world, went to Alaska about a year ago and it was one of their favorite places that they've been.
Best of luck with the Fodera sale... it's a beautiful bass !

One evening I was surfing the Internet and my wife looked over and saw a Yin Yang and said, "Wow! That is a COOL looking bass!"
I explained that the top woods were ebony and holly, and that this is Victor Wooten's signature bass. She knows who Vic is because, well, she's married to me.
Then comes the shocker: she said, "You should get it!"
I laughed. "Love, this is a very expensive bass."
"I bet, but you should get it."
Being the obedient husband I am...

Like Jerry J wrote, it is incredibly well built, which is one of the reasons it is killing me to sell it. Plus I'm not getting any younger, and someday I'm probably really going to miss playing lighter, 4 string basses. But is build quality enough to justify the price?
Years ago, my wife paid a fair chunk of money to attend a private Elton John concert in someone's mansion in England.
Yeah, they were the same songs we could have bought on iTunes for a fraction of the price, but there was definitely value in 3+ hours of hearing and interacting with him in that setting, you know?
Value is largely a perception thing. I wouldn't have done it (nor did I). However, had it been Victor Wooten...

Best of luck with the Fodera sale... it's a beautiful bass ! | Thanks for the best wishes on the sale. I just wish I could buy my new sixer (see photo of the bass I'm wanting below) without selling the Fodera.
That's great news about your parents liking Alaska. I was born and raised in Alaska and never understood why people would come up and say how remarkable it was... until I left home for a few months and returned. THEN I got it!
As for the album, my wife and I have listened to the whole thing now. We both loved it.
I hate to derail my own thread, but would it be okay to ask what bass and rig you used? I'm always curious about that stuff.

Looks like the picture of your "desired" sixer didn't show up.
As for Noelles album, I joined just after it was recorded, so I'm not sure what Mark used as a bass chain.
OK - LITERALLY as I was typing this, Mark called, so I asked him about the signal chain - he went direct - Demeter tube mic pre and a Tube Tech compressor.
