FRANKEN-P PROJECT ! BLOCKS, BINDING, DIMARZIOS, ULTRA COOL !

Sign in to disble this ad
This was gathered at various times.

*Solid alder P Bass body
*Squier VM Jazz Bass neck - blocked and bound
*DiMarzio Precision Bass pickups
*Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles
*MIM Fender tuners (at least that's what they look to be)
*Mike Dirnt "star" neck plate

This bass is not pretty - it has lots of scratches and dings on the body, though the neck is in really nice shape. The whole thing together does look cool though, and is pretty darn light weight. I don't have an accurate scale but it is VERY comfortable for me, and I have to be very conscious of weight due to having broken my neck. Should make for a seriously killer bass - it just needs pots, jack, wiring, strings, and a setup. All the "big stuff" is already there.

History : I got hold of a Squier VM Jazz neck that had a stripped truss rod, so I removed the nut, slotted it, and now it works with a flathead screwdriver to adjust. Truss rod works as it should. The body is an unknown brand solid alder body that had evidently been routed be an angry woodpecker. So, in order to clean it up and make pickup mounting possible, I routed it out (cleaned up the cavity), and built it back up with wood to the proper height. The cavity is enlarged, but hidden under the guard...less weight !

Anyway, this should make a killer "budget gigging bass". I'm selling it for "end of the month cash"...bills suck.

$200 Shipped in the Continental USA SOLD

PAYPAL

Here are some pics -

I have a gig this evening, so PM me and I'll check when I get back - first come, first served !

Thanks !

I think it will be a REALLY cool bass when it gets done. If it doesn't sell here soon, I'll probably just get some pots and finish it up myself, and most likely keep it...but I could really use the $$$ more than another bass right now.

Have a great day !

Oh, I also have a white pickguard I'll throw in with the project, just in case you prefer that to the black one.

BTW - I've received several PMs regarding the neck, As the ad states, the neck is in really nice shape, and the truss rod works just fine. Cosmetically the neck is in nice shape with no big dings or anything.

EDIT FOR ADDING PHOTOS

========================================

Per request, here are pictures of the truss rod area. As you can see it has been slotted for use with a flathead screwdriver. Alternately, you could order a new truss rod nut from Fender, which is probably $5 - $10 total, and couple minutes of work.

Hey Dark Horse,

Are the blocks on the neck inlays, stickers, or painted?

Thanks.

It's just a Squier VM neck, so I'm guessing that they're decaled or painted, but I'm not 100% sure which. I cant imagine that they'd use old school blocks on a bass that retails for $300.

Could you post pics of the body without the pickguard? I'm curious about the pickup route.

Thanks,
Greg
