Up for sale is my Yamaha fretless bass. I am not totally sure what the model number is, but it looks similar to the BB404. I swapped the original pickups to Bartolinis. I still have the originals if you want me to throw them in for free. Wonderful upgrade. They are hum-canceling to keep her a nice and quiet. The board is a really nice piece of Rosewood and the inlay lines appear to be Rosewood as well. This bass did not start out as a frettled instrument and has not been altered except for the pickups. The neck is smooth, fast and straight. Truss rod turns effortlessly. One thing that I really like about this instrument is that the fret lines are fairly dark. You can’t even tell they are there from a distance of 4 feet, or so. It has a super warm, woody tone to it and a very snug neck pocket as well.
This has been a pleasure to play through the years and is a great instrument for a beginner to intermediate fretless lover. It is classy and understated. Another bonus is that it is fairly light. Maybe 8-8.5 lbs. Also, the electronics are passive. I was playing it through my Aguilar Tone Hammer recently and it sounded really really nice. Good, punchy midrange. If you were to install a Bart or Aguilar preamp, you would be dialed.
I am letting this go at the very reasonable price of $240. The pickups alone are $140 new. It is a great deal. I don’t think that you will be disappointed.
Thanks for looking.
