FS - $450 Plus Shipping for Early 80s Vintage S&T St. Blues PJ Bass -Real Deal

Sign in to disble this ad
I have another early 1980's Strings and Things St. Blues Bass. This is not one of the foreign made ones but the real deal. I only deal in the real deal. This is not quite as nice as the amber one that I just sold, but still very nice.

The pickups and pots were shot on this bass, so I replaced them with a Dimarzion PJ set (originals were Dimarzio pickups) and all new pots and wiring. The bass also has new pickguard screws, knobs, and vintage style straplock (original to the early Strings and Things). Topped everything off with a new set of TI Flats and a complete setup, all professionally done by my guitar technician at Harry's Guitar Shop in Raleigh.

The bass now sounds, looks and plays great. Weighs in around 9 1/2 lbs on bathroom scale and comes with a standard gigbag, nothing special but adequate. Priced to sell. I will ship it with a brand new Protec Contego hard gigbag in place of the standard gigbag for an additional $50.00, if purchased with the bass. I will only ship to the lower 48 States. Buyer will pay actual cost of shipping and insurance.

I have this listed on ebay for a much higher price but I prefer to sell it here because it is a great bass and ridiculous paypal and ebay fees. I would much rather pass the savings on here than to give it to ebay.

Nut width: 1 5/8", Neck profile...vintage Precision "B" profile.

About 10 years ago when I was first taken to bass, I picked up an all original 1966 3TSB Precision from someone who picked it up at an estate sale and didn't quite know what he had. I paid $1,000, cleaned it up a little and flipped it on ebay with a buy-it-now of $2,500...it wasn't up there 15 minutes before it sold. The person thanked me over and over again for selling it so cheap...I guess I didn't know what I had either.

Anyway it had a "B" neck profile and to me it was the most comfortable feeling and playing neck I ever layed my hands on. While there is no comparison, the vintage early 80s St. Blues neck profile reminds me of that 66 Precision. I guess that is one reason I like them so much when you couple the neck profile with the vintage threaded bridge saddles and the reverse tuners on this and other early St. Blues.

Of course this is my opinion, other owners may differ.
