As the title above says, here’s your chance to purchase a Lakland Skyline Jerry Scheff Signature Series 4-String bass in Inca Silver with an Ebony Lined Fretless (ELF) neck in excellent condition.
For those of you that are considering the purchase of a high quality 4-String bass, I encourage you to consider this rare Jerry Scheff Signature Series instrument. This particular listing includes the optional Mirrored Pick Guard, Ebony Lined Fretless neck, and Black Lakland/Levy’s GigBag. Rest assured, no corners have been cut with this deal. Features include:
-Armstrong Chrome Lipstick Tube Pickups
-Bartolini PreAmp and EQ
-Mirrored Pick Guard
-Ebony Lined Fretless Neck (White lines)
-Lakland JO Flatwound Strings Specifications:
- Weighs approx. 9 pounds on digital FedEx shipping scale, typical for Skyline models
- Unique Jerry Scheff series routing placement for Bridge and Neck pickups
- Controls: Bass, Mid, Treble, Blend, Volume with Pull-Out Passive Mode (includes 9V battery)
- Body build date: Aug02
-ELF Neck build date: 2006
- Plek’d? Too funny, it’s a fretless!
The condition of the body of this bass is excellent. It has no dings, scratches, or dings. The original Rosewood fretted neck was skillfully replaced by me with an ‘06 Skyline Ebony Lined Neck. The brilliant metallic Inca Silver really pops and provides an excellent contrast to the white lined Ebony fretless neck. There is however a very minor scuff on the top of the head, see photo. The top of the pickups have minor string wear. The optional mirrored Pick Guard is in good shape with very light scuffs from normal play wear and minor signs of age considering this instrument is 9 years old.
Playability of this fretless bass is as smooth as butter. The unique tone produced from the original Armstrong Chrome Lipstick Tube pickups and their unique placement is deep and rich. Want a brighter sound, roll the blend pot to focus on the Bridge pickup.
This particular bass (with the rosewood fretted neck) was used by Ian Allison (TB ID: IanAllison) to record the actual sound samples for the Jerry Scheff models on the Lakland site. That much more of a unique bass.
The last US Jerry Scheff model built was in 2009 and now are available as a "custom build" on US models through Lakland ONLY. They are no longer available in the Skyline Series – period.
For more detailed information, specifications, and sound clips, visit: Welcome to Lakland
Reason for this sale: I received this JS Inca Silver bass as part of a trade. With the rosewood fretted neck, it plays very similar to my US Jerry Scheff BlueTrans/RW. With the Ebony Lined Fretless neck, it plays like my custom Skyline Jerry Scheff Candy Apple Red with Maple Lined Fretless neck – Go figure! The Bartolini PreAmp, EQ, and Armstrong pickups are identical to the ones used in the US models. They are also installed at Lakland HQ here in the USA.
Ease your mind, protect your investment and buy from a supporting TB and LOG member with 100% positive feedback rating. Buyer's Choice: $825.00 with Ebony Lined Fretless neck OR $800.00 with Rosewood Fretted neck

The Jerry Scheff Signature Series is a package that was well executed to provide a very distinctive punchy tone. Adding the Lakland Fretless neck option only enhances the flexibility of this proven design that much more.

| | Lākland Jerry Scheff #003 | | Join Date: Jun 2009 Location: Mobile, AL | | | Lee - I'd look at it as lessoned learned. If you recall, I was the one that gave the "Go Ahead!" on that venture. As luck would have it, he's now in scrambling mode. Karma strikes when we least expect it.
On a more positive note, you can certainly jump on in as this beastie is spot on and bad to the bone!
This listing isn't a "Fire Sale" and shouldn't be considering more than $225 worth of quality Lakland options (PG, ELF neck, JO Flats, and GigBag) are included with this JS4 Inca Silver bass.
You did manage to land a nice pair of Aguilar GS112s cabs, so cheer up Buddy!

Peut-ętre que les plans de paiement sont dans l'ordre ...?

| | Registered User | | Join Date: May 2007 Location: The REAL LA -- Lower Alabama! | | Hey, where did you get that cool mirror pickguard with the azaleas on it??
If I wasn't in for about 6 times the price of this bass in plumbing costs this week (replacing polybutylene in the whole house) I'd be all over this bass. It would be a nice companion for my Inca Silver Skyline Jerry Scheff 5 string (my main bass and avatar). And as Gordon tried to show - but the picture doesn't really do it justice, the Inca silver is absoloutely beautiful and looks great onstage under lights.
For those of you who have not had any hands-on with a Lakland Scheff, they are vastly underappreciated. And since the Skyline Scheffs are no longer in production, they are RARE and underappreciated. Many bassists are discovering what a great instrument they are, and I think the demand will go up as more and more bassist discover them. Maybe Hanson will reissue a 44-?? Scheff-type bass- maybe not. Either way, Pre-Hanson Jerry Scheff basses may be the "Pre-CBS Fenders" of the future. Maybe, just maybe.
Dang, I've got GAS.
Bump for a great bass and the guy I personnally turned into a Scheff junkie.

Now, as for the "...cool mirror pickguard with the azaleas.." comment, if you'd take a moment and remove that white protective plastic on your pick guard, you too could see "Azaleas" in the reflection on your JS5. They are in full bloom in Mobile, AL right now - Beautiful...
I see two options for you to get your hands on this bass today :
a. Pay me CASH, pay the plumber with check!
b. Pay me CASH, keep the leaky pipes at home!
I agree, this JS4 IncaSilver/ELF would be the perfect companion for your Sky JS5 IncaSilver/Rosewood - no 35" long thumb rest and Fretless baby!
--
All kidding aside, this bass is still up for grabs folks!

Gordon is a stand-up guy and a pleasure to work with - one of the best on TB.
For those who want to hear this bass back when it was fretted, check out the soundclips on the Lakland website: Welcome to Lakland |

I had forgotten to include that this was the bass Ian Allison used to record the sound samples for the Jerry Scheff models on the Lakland site. That much more of a unique bass.
