SOLD Gotta pay the G.A.S. bill, which means sadly selling the best mid-three-figures bass I've ever owned. This Fender Precision Bass Special "Deluxe Series" has a Precision Bass body with a comfortable Jazz Bass-width neck and the versatile P/J pickups. I had the pickups professionally upgraded to DiMarzio DP126 P+J. These awesome pickups give the bass massive punch. (I no longer have the original stock p'ups.) Passive. Made in Mexico in 2002. Color is Candy Apple Red with gold pickguard.
The bass is in near perfect condition (crazily so for a 10-year-old bass). The only blemish I can find is one tiny surface scratch on the back, visible only in bright light and too small to photograph. Great neck with medium-to-low action, no buzzing, no fretwear. Weight: 9 pounds 3 ounces. Controls are Volume (P pickups), Volume (J pickup), Tone.
I'll also include a case -- your choice of a new Fender SKB Molded J/P Bass Case or an older more traditional-style Fender case (both in perfect condition).

Must say it was more challenging pricing this one than any other bass I've sold. I know I have $660 in the bass (my purchase price eight months ago, the new pickups and installation, new DR Lo-Riders strings). And that's not counting the case, which didn't come with the bass when I bought it. I think $500 is reasonable, but am happy to listen to fair offers. (No trades, just cash, thanks.)

Anyone looking for a classic Fender P but with a J neck woud be very happy with this.
