FS 06 Fender Jazz bass

Sign in to disble this ad
FS red (Candy Cola?) US Jazz Bass, great shape with only some minor swirl marks in the clear on the back. Quietest jazz bass Ive ever owned when soloing pickups. Would like to try to sell as local as possible (within a 3 hour radius of Huntsville Al.) as I hate shipping, but would like to trade towards a Spector Euro 5 string if it doesn't sell first. Selling for 750 firm.

Thanks for looking!

John

It was a switch housed in the neck volume control that when engauged on a jazz put both pickups into series with each other, boosting up the lower mid range. They only used S1 switches for a couple of years.

The S1 connects both pickups in series which produces a different tone. In this mode one of the volume knobs is bypassed and the other (not sure which one) controls both pickups. They both work, obviously.
If I'm wrong please correct me...

This is correct, the neck pickup becomes the master volume, and the bridge pickup control becomes bypassed. Think of it as becoming one giant humbucker with a huge gap between them with a single volume and tone. BTW I'll be holding off on shipping through the weekend with the hopes someone local will pick it up. I have two TB'ers in line for shipping if it doesnt sell by Sunday night locally. If they decide to look elsewhere Ill keep the status updated.

Not to hijack the thread but pros and cons of the switch?

Can you still easily upgrade pups and so forth?

By all means ask away! I wouldn't thing the S1 would have any effect on single coil pickup swaps they'd still connect up to the same place in the circuit. I dont see any cons of it myself, other than normal wear and tear of the switch over time. It still functions like any other jazz bass with the S1 not engaged.
