1963: I bought this bass not too long ago from The Low End.
The bass was worked on and refinished by Joe Black, who worked on the book The Fender Bass An Illustrated History.
I have since put new foam under the pups.
The bass had a non-original pot, but I put an original '63 back in.
Serial number dates the bass to '64.
Neck dates the bass to '63 (5 DEC 63)
One pot dates '63, one '64.
Bass has all original parts.
Original case in okay shape for its age.
Beautiful player, just too nice for me to gig with

Asking $4,050 shipped and insured.
Trades and offers are okay.

1975: I also bought this bass not too long ago.
I was going to refinish it like Jimi's Monterey Pop Strat,
but decided that wasn't right haha.
I'm going to pass this one onto someone who can make it their own project.
All original except new pots, pickguard and replacement covers.
Missing the last fret.
May have been re-fretted.
Includes non-original hardshell case.
This bass is sweet!

Asking $1,195 shipped and insured.
Trades and offers are okay.

(those are not the current pots) (I put new pots in)

Sorry for the pictures being all over the place .

Ask questions
Trades: I only really like old Fenders (thumb rest/tugbar on the treble side).

'63 is strung with Elixirs not the Black Beauties that it came to me with.

It's a tug bar for the thumb (Used to play as opposed the the fingers). It's the way they used to come I believe...

You got it. To be more through, I'm looking for Fenders made between '59 and '72. I prefer Rosewood boards, unless it's a Telecaster Bass, which only came in Maple. I prefer the later humbucker style Tele Bass.

I'd love to trade for a really nice '62-'72 Jazz. Again, rosewood board.

I'm a passive, 4-string player.

Thanks

Getting some cool and interesting trade offers. I may take one on the '63.

9lbs? ...... Hope you're not dieting? .......... LOL
That is such a sweet looking bass. ...... I hate to say it, but two years after she's sold you'll wish you hadn't.
Just saying....... But if you need the $$ and she's not doing it for you.....
