FS: 1966 Fender Precision $2500 shipped

For sale: 1966 Fender Precision Bass. This bass was originally sunburst and was stripped and cleared about a million years ago. This bass has been used for the past 47 years and it shows. This is not a museum piece but it IS a serious player. Serial Number 148390, C width neck with 5 OCT 66 C stamped on the neck heel. Gorgeous rosewood fretboard. Frets have plenty of life in them and are in great shape. Tort pickguard with original shield plate, gray bottom pickups with pencil date of 6-12-66, original knobs, original tuners- the only thing I know is a repro is the tugbar (as I installed it) and the headstock decal was replaced with the correct one and refinned in nitro by John Scott at Bluesman Vintage Guitars; he also did the set-up. It has probably had a refret and I believe one of the wires was changed at some point. Pots and output jack look correct and the wire is cloth wrapped.

Action is low and comfortable and neck is stable. Bridge cover is included and still has remnants of the original mute foam. The pics show strap locks but I will reinstall the regular Fender strap buttons. An additional strap pin hole was drilled at some point on the end of the bass body next to where the regular strap pin hole was and another was drilled in the end of the lower horn (see pics).

This is a really, really great sounding and playing bass. Dare I say, full of "mojo". There, I said it. Sorry, it applies. Comes with Fender hard case from the period, though I cannot say it is original. There are some humorous "band" type stickers on the case. I looked for years for the "right" '66 P bass, and this one was it. In all seriousness, medical bills force sale otherwise I'd never part with it. The next owner will be very pleased with this one.

$2500 shipped in the lower 48. Insurance extra. US sales only please. I am not interested in shipping international. I have an offer from a dealer and if no movement here it will go to him. I am sure he ships international. USPS m.o.'s please or will accept check if we've done business in the past.

Thanks for looking-

Lordy... a P-Bass from the year I was born.

So tempted... alas, the tax refund is already spoken for.

:crying:

Good luck with the sale and I hope you can get out from under those medical bills in a hurry.
