I never thought I would let this one go, but I’m going for a Fodera and I need to raise funds. This is a 1968 Gibson EBO with Darkstars. The bass has been refinished in clear nitrocellulose with a custom pickguard, cavity cover, and headstock overlay all made out of ebony with beautiful grain. The refinish is very, very nice. This bass literally glows in direct sunlight. The ebony highlights really make the bass one of a kind. The bass has been modified with two Darkstar pickups. These pickups run $400 by themselves. This is my second bass with Darkstars and they just kill. There are no worries about a muddy tone with these pickups. The tone if very full and rich and low end is just huge. The bass also has excellent clarity. Darkstars are very dynamic. If you pluck near the neck pickups the tone is fat, warm and perfect for R&B or blues. If you dig in by the bridge the bass starts to roar. Playability is also excellent. The neck is super fast and easy to play, especially with the 30 ½” scale. You’re going to have to fight your guitar player off with a stick. They love to noodle on the short scales. The bass is currently strung up with a set of TI jazz flats and I couldn’t imagine using anything different. There is no neck dive and the bass is super light. I’m going to guess around seven pounds. The bass is all mahogany with a very nice rosewood board. The frets are original and in great shape. This bass is pictured on the Darkstar website. The bass is in great shape with just a couple of dings. I don’t want to lose it, but GAS is a mofo.
Price: $1300 plus shipping. I take paypal and money orders.
Edit:This bass is finished in nitro, not poly. Sorry for the mistake.
Mike

Since a couple people asked, the neck is straight as an arrow. No warping or headstock repairs. The trussrod works great and it is has just a hint of relief in it right now. I believe I've gotten back to everyone, but I've gotten a lot of pm's. Please let me know if I missed anyone.

And while I've been having a blast playing it (and the bands dig it too) my curiousity got the best of me. What do those Darkstars sound like on a shortscale Gibson...
