FS: 1969 P body ressurected with modern parts

This is a killer frankenbass. My other basses are not selling so I'm offering up a sweet one, plus I end up digging Ps and Js more than PJs for some reason.

This is an original 1968 or 1969 P-bass alder body with original neckplate and bridge. Someone roughly routed it for a J-pickup and loaded it with Fender American Vintage P and Lindy Fralin Hum-canceling Jazz pickups. I've added a really nice MIJ 1970 Reissue neck with period-correct looks and a "B" width nut. I rewired it as vol/vol (no tone) on an american 62 RI Pickguard, with Sadowsky 500k pots, all designed to get the brightest possible tone from what is otherwise a really warm sounding bass. It is strung with fresh DR hi-beams.

I'll also include a second pickguard with a broken corner that has 4 holes for vol/blend/tone/output that was on the body when I got it, along with the pots for that wiring config. Also includes pickup cover and thumbrest of unknown origin.

The result is a bass with distinct and real vintage vibe but also a nice true/solid modern neck and great sounding, quiet electronics. An ultimate roundwounds PJ.

I think its worth $1550 shipped to the lower 48, including a gig bag. This is getting you pretty close to a real '69P, at a much lower price point.

Extremely cool bass. As a big fan of franken-P's, i can say that this looks exactly like something i'd love to own if i could afford it. Good luck -

I'll get a more accurate measure when I can, but it feels like a little bit over 9lbs to me. Moderate.

I paid about $1000 for body/hardware/pickups, I could pass it along for the same. That'd include both pickguards, shipping to the lower 48 ...

Thanks for the reply - unfortunately it's somewhere pretty far north of what i was hoping, but that's cool. Great bass, and good luck with the sale anyway.
