Up for sale is my 1972/73 (not sure which, according to Fender's dating page, it could be either) Fender Mustang with period correct black check hardshell case. Only one latch of the case works.
I bought this about two years ago, had it set up for me by Mouradian Guitars in Winchester, MA, and played it infrequently. I used it on one rock gig. I haven't played it in months, and it's time to clean out the closet.
The only modification I made which can be removed by you is a small plate made to fit the bridge to raise the action (it can be seen in the pics). It was done by Mouradian guitar to be removable. EDIT: to remove it, just unscrew the bridge, remove the "shim", and re-screw in the bridge. Mouradian knows what they're doing! I'd never want anything permanent on a bass like this.
The neck is fine, and does have a few dings in it which do not affect playability.
Bodywise, the sunburst looks good and has some dings, but nothing really bad or unexpected for a 40 year old bass that was used.
All of the dings were there when I got the bass. None of the cosmetic imprefections affects playability. This thing sounds and plays great.
All pictures of the bass including any dings can be seen here:
http://www.allanhirt.com/mustang.html Extras: I have a set of unused Thomastik-Infield short scale jazz flats (
http://www.juststrings.com/toi-jf324.html) which I was considering putting on but never used.
In addition, I do have a second black checked case which has its own set of problems, but between the two, you may be able to make one working case.
Neither has a picture, but I could take one if you want.
Price: $900 US dollars which includes shipping in the lower 48 in the US. This price also includes the unused set of Thomastiks and the extra case.
I will sell internationally, so inquire and I'll get a shipping estimate from UPS. I always take my stuff to get packed and shipped at the UPS Store for items like this.
Payment Terms: PayPal preferred - the personal option. have 100% positive feedback here, on eBay, and on head-fi, so I take selling seriously and never misrepresent an item.
I would consider a money order if it was a US Postal one or an international money order drawn in US dollars, but that will take time and delay the transaction.
As soon as I get payment, I will confirm your address and get it out in a day or two. I always e-mail tracking numbers so you can see its progress.
If you're local to the Boston area, I'd take cash as well, and we can arrange to meet as well.
No trade offers accepted. I am not looking for anything.
