FS: 1972 Fender Jazz Bass

I am selling a 1972 Fender Jazz Bass for $2,200.00. I have original chrome hardware. The bass is Natural color and has some checking on it. The bass is Ash and weights around 10 pounds. I talked to Chicago Music Exchange about the checking and they verified that it is common with these types of basses at this age. I bought this bass from GGuitars in Connecticut two years ago who sold it as an original 1972 Fender Jazz. At that time the bass had a Bad Ass Bridge which has been replaced recently with its original bridge. The bass comes with its original Fender hard shell case. This bass sounds amazing. If you are looking for that classic funk (slap, finger) this is it. Avishai Cohen plays a (similar) 72 J Bass (his has a maple board) so if you are looking for a sound reference then this is it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IyDe9sl1gNI (this is a direct sound). Also, here is a similar one for reference http://www.gbase.com/gear/fender-jaz...al-black-block.

I recently had the bass set up by a local luthier in Boston in order to prep the bass for sale. During that time a few things happened. He replaced the nut and refinished the fretboard. Also, the bridge pickup had to be rewound. The pickup was rewound at Lindy Fralin (http://www.fralinpickups.com/rewind_repair.asp). He also noted that the pot pick up number was 13791.

72 Fender Jazz

Is the guard original ?

If so this would be the 1st Jazz bass from that period in natural, that I have seen.

I had a 72 in Oly Wht with a tortoise guard, however

All naturals from that year I have seen had black or white guards...interesting

Natural was an option from the factory in 72, but much more common in the mid and late 70s. The pickguard would be tortoise or white at that time. Black wasn't offered till late 74 or so.
