FS 1979 Ibanez RS900

Sign in to disble this ad
Thinning the herd sale.
On the block is an Ibanez RS900. I love the idea of a vintage instrument, but she is treading on my thumb BO's territory!

Specs.
Made in Japan 1979
22 frets
Active Pre amp Volume, Bass, Treble. www.ibanezregister.com call it Volume, H/L Shelving
One Ibanez Super 4 Humbucker.
Northern Ash body, She is heavy!
Maple Neck and Fretboard, feels like a P bass neck
Brass nut.
Transparent Brown Finish.
Solid Bridge.
Classic Ibanez "heart" Tuners
regular 34 scale neck, not to thick, not to thin.
Same Model as Phil Lynnot (Thin Lizzy) used, exept that Phil Had a Mirror pickguard on his.

8.5 out of 10. Some dings, nothing major. I wanted it to look a little beat up, so I left the oxidation on the tuners and bridge. I did polish the frets and refurbish the tuners and bridge; they are free of grime and have a nice light coat of machine oil.

If you like the old school Pre EBMM stingrays, give this bass a chance. She is a real player.

$400 OBO to your door, CONUS prefered. Paypal is accepted.

I have a beautiful Roadstar stratocaster that I adore. I'm really wanting to pick this up but I also really want a 6 string SR Prestige. A compliment to my guitar or a better compliment to my playing? Hm...

Free bump!

Just curious, are those all the original knobs?

Wouldn't change my opinion on buying it or not (I'm totally broke, but it does look cool), it's just odd to have the first knob different and I'm curious if they were shipped like that for some reason.

The other two look original (from what I can see and what I know of my Roadstar) but the first doesn't.

If the bridge on this one is the same as my RS924, it's worth the price of admission. Brass saddle high mass bridge + P profile Neck + Ash = the sound of bass in my head. All of these post lawsuit pre-pointy Ibanez basses are classics, not just the one Sting played. Heck, I like the pointy ones too!
