FS: 1979 Yamaha BB1200

Sign in to disble this ad
For Sale: Yamaha BB1200. 1979.

Looks just like what Paul McCartney (Macca!) played while in Wings and the BB1200 he still uses today every once in a while except it is a righty. Has lots of players wear because this bass sounds that good. I'm selling because my current gig really calls for me to have a Stingray, so I need to sell this to pay off my 'Ray.

Original pups, pots, and tuners, BadAss II bridge (still has brass plate sunken into the body under the bridge), and neutrik locking jack.

The bass plays beautifully and sounds awesome. Truly a P bass on steroids. When playing one you can see why Leland Sklar, Michael Anthony, and Justin Meldal-Johnsen (JMJ) like the way these sound and play.

Comes with a Levy's padded gig bag for free or for another $50 you'll get a foam soft/hard case in excellent condition.

PRICE: $599 Shipped in the Con. USA

There was a guy who posted a thread specifically looking for one of these, in the BG forum, just a few days ago.

Cool bass!

+1 to that. These are my favorite precision-type basses.

I have one just like that, with the original bridge, but with EMG's I put in back in the mid-80's. Is anyone into vintage EMG's? I didn't keep the original pickups, like a dumb you-know-what.

What?

How about you buy my BB1200 and then you'll have one with old EMGs and one with the original pups? :

Thanks, man, I hear ya', but I have too many basses as it is. It took me 30 years to accumulate three, and one year after discovering TB I have eight (plus a travel bass). I was going to sell my BB1200, even though I've had it since 1983, but I cleaned it up and put new strings on it and it sounded MASSIVE and I can't get rid of it now.

To anyone thinking about buying this bass, you will not go wrong. I've had mine for almost 30 years, great build quality and great sound.

This is the best vintage alternative to a Fender P Bass but with some improvements: the body is mahogany, which gives more lows, and the p pickup is reversed for getting a louder sound, especially for the thinner strings. I've been wanting one of these for a long time, but now I don't have money! Bump anyway

I do not, unfortunately. I purchased it from the original owner without the original bridge. I would have preferred the original bridge myself.
