FS: 1981 Washburn B40 Matsumoko Beauty!!
I bought this from Twocan last winter on impulse, but just don't play it enough to keep it. The original owner bought it in 1981 and it's been in a closet since the early 80's. Weighs about 8 - 8.5 lbs., and is a lot of fun to play.
There are some pretty impressive features on this Washburn bass, including:
Neck through construction
String through body design
Hefty brass bridge
Brass nut, 1 ¾”
Pickups are similar to DiMarzio pickups, but they aren't.
Vintage style smaller fretwire (like a 60's jazz)
Black binding on fretboard
Well balanced due to long upper horn and very comfortable to wear. Beautiful burgundy color!
There is a ding on the bottom horn, otherwise, this bass is literally a "closet classic". Will ship in a Kramer-like HSC.
Great bass - GLWTS Gary!
Love it. Same knobs as my '81 Matsumoku beauty, but it sure is lighter than mine! A very cool bass. If it's anything like mine, that cream dimarzio style P pickup is powerfully hot, articulate, and musical.
How 'bout $375 shipped?
Cool bass, as it reminds me of Bakithi Kumalo. He used one of these back in the Graceland days. Granted, it was a fretless, but still, very cool. And Gary's a great guy to deal with. GLWTS, Gar!
