FS: 1982 Fender P-Bass "Fullerton" '57 RI

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a 1982 Fender P-Bass, '57 re-issue made in the Fullerton factory. As you can see by the date and very low serial #, it was one of the first of these re-issue basses made.

It is very light and resonant, the weight is between 8-8.5 lbs.

When I acquired the bass, it had EMG pickups in it, so I replaced the pickup with a Lindy Fralin pickup for the vintage look and tone, as well as installed CTS pots. It also has Dunlop straplocks installed.

As you can see, there are some dings as well as finish checking, but it's what you would expect for a bass of this age with an authentic nitro finish. The frets are in great shape.

This bass really nails that warm, growly P-bass tone! I'm just more of a J-bass guy so I really only play this bass at home.

This is for sale only! No trades.

Price: $1500 USD + shipping.

Bump for a sweet bass. I have this same bass to a t, and it is on par with my two pre-CBS P's. Just did a record last week and used it on 6 out of 10 tracks.

that "Motown" clip is wonderfully played, you've got that Jamerson thing DOWN!..
..you make that maple board sound nice and warm,smooth..
I'd buy this bass for that soundclip alone.

are those flats or rounds on those clips?
what type of strings are on her now?

Thanks, here are answers to some questions I received:

-Exact weight is 8.42 lbs
-Nut width is 1 3/4"
-Strings on it are DR Hi-Beams... for most of the clips I had the tone knob rolled back close to 0.

The finish is checked... here are some pics to try to show it.

If you measure the neck wood right at or below the nut, it's 1 3\4" Fender specs. If you measure the nut itself, you get that 11\16'".... Is that what you did?
That's all fine and dandy, but it's a pity it's missing the original pickups and pots, because this fine bass would be worth more than your original asking price.
I want it so badly I could cry................

Thanks, you're right, it is 1 3/4" (I edited the post). I wish it was all original too! The previous owner didn't have the original parts, unfortunately.

maybe it hurts the collectability, but from those clips,I'd say the Fralins are just perfect sounding,
..if she wasn't 1 3/4'..I'd have purchased this last week.

Do you have the Fullerton issue case with the orange interior and duck foot tab?

By the sound of those clips, Whisper could make just about any bass sound great. Your tone is in your hands... Wish I could relieve you of it, but just blew it all on a pre-CBS Jazz. Bump for a sweet bass and a great player.
