FS: 1982 Yamaha BB-400 "Killer Vintage P-Bass"

Sign in to disble this ad
In 1982 Yamaha introduced the Broad Bass series of basses to the US market. They basically re-designed the Fender P-Bass with a reversed split pickup that sounded great. This bass hails from that first year and honestly looks like it spent most of it's life in the case under someone's bed.

It's a simple, straightforward and totally functional instrument and this one is in excellent condition with some minor rash on the back and a couple tiny nicks in the body.

It will ship in it's original black hard shell case with plush green interior that's also in great shape for being 27 years old.

Don't waste your money on a cheap Mexican P-Bass when you can have a high quality vintage P for about the same price!

SOLD! Asking $395.00 shipped and insured in the lower 48.

I really wish I could jump on this. In my experience, Yamaha P's are amazing and IMO play way better than any Fender i've layed my hands on.

I am 99.9% sure that this bass is completely passive.

Yes, it's a passive bass configured just like a regular P-Bass with a volume and tone control.

And, yes, it's way nicer then all of the low end Fender P-Basses. It plays, feels and sounds like a quality instrument, which it is!

I got the same bass. Except mine's finish is seriously damaged, the hardware is dull, and it looks 60 years old, even though it's 30.

Yours is simply gorgeous.

Yep, pretty much every other one I have seen has been pretty worn. That's what makes this one special!

I really need to move this vintage beauty so I'm open to all reasonable offers. There are two of these for sale on the "bay" right now and neither one is close to the condition of this one. This is a rare opportunity to get a vintage bass at a really "vintage" price! Hit me up!!

Being a fan of these instruments since they were first introduced here in the US, I actually have the original Yamaha instrument catalog from 1982.

Here is a scan of the specs and the catalog photo.
