SOLD. I just have way too many basses, so i'm selling this early Squier p bass. These early Squiers (with serial numbers starting with the letters "SQ" were made in Japan from 1983-84, and are known for their lightweight solid alder bodies and great feeling necks (1 5/8" nut width), with vintage sized frets, very nice 'rolled-over' edges. NOT to be confused with the later Squiers, or those currently made in Korea, IMO these Japanese made ones easily rival their USA made counterparts.
We used this one in our professional 24-track analog studio as our 'go to' P bass, since it captures the vintage P bass tone so well. The original pickup was replaced with a Seymour Duncan vintage P Bass pickup back in 1986 and it really made this bass authenticity come alive. The pickup and control cavities have been shielded to reduce hum and noise. Other that that, this bass is stock. The frets have recently been dressed, and the action set so this bass is ready to play. It's neck is straight and currently has low action and plays great. Overall it is in good condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs, but the finish does have its share of chips, dents and dings, with the worst ones being on the side of the body's lower bout near the output jack. This bass and weighs in at 9lbs. Thge only thing that it might need is a new set of strings.
