This bass is sold.
Sold for $2000.
Up for sale is my 1983 Steinberger L2 all graphite bass in great condition, with only one minor scratch! The Steinberger sticker is still intact on the front of the bass. It comes with the original spring-loaded leg rest and Steinberger soft case. The original frets look almost new, as shown in the photos. The small scratch is on the front of the bass, near one of the hex bolts, and can be seen in the photos. There is the usual slight wear on the back where the rotating "boomerang" snaps into place. Everything looks and functions perfectly.
This bass was originally owned by David Margen, the touring bass player for Santana. He hand picked this bass from the Steinberger factory in New York. The L2's serial number is 1223. I was taking bass lessons from David in the mid 1980's and purchased this bass from him. I played a lot in college, but later switched to steel string acoustic guitar. For the last 20 years, this bass has spent most of its time in my closet (non-smoking home). I have never gigged with this bass. I have kept this bass for sentimental reasons and in case I decided to take up bass again. However, because of personal reasons, I have decided to sell this beautiful bass guitar.
I will also include 3 new sets of double ball bass strings: GHS extra light, GHS medium and La Bella extra light.
This bass still sounds great after all these years. No scratchy pots.
I would prefer to ship only within the CONUS. Will only accept payment by verified PayPal, and ship to the verified address. Buyer to pay shipping and insurance. Sorry no trades.
Here are the photos (I made no attempt to clean the bass, so anything other than the one aforementioned scratch that appears as a blemish is probably dust or a reflection):
It is extremely rare to see a 25+ year old Steinberger L2 bass in such great condition, and at my asking price, I hope it sells fast. I will miss this bass, but hope it finds a good home.
