This is a Yamaha BB1000S bass built in Japan in 1984 by Nippon Gakki. Those of you familiar with these early BB Series basses know how great they are. The construction is second to none and the condition of this one is really breathtaking.
There is one ding by the control knobs. This has been covered up with a red and silver Yamaha logo decal (it's actually a badge decal used on Yamaha scooters) which looks pretty good. Other than this one ding the bass is perfect, no rash, no scratches, no headstock chips, no nothing! It looks like it's been under somebody's bed for the last 25 years. No lie!
It has a 3-piece neck (alder/walnut/alder) that runs the length of the body and is topped by a rosewood fingerboard. It is finished in transparent red.
It has a reverse Precision-style pickup in the neck position and Jazz-style pickup in the bridge position. There is a 3-way pickup selector to switch between neck pickup only, bridge pickup only, and both pickups together. The two knobs are master volume and tone control.
The playability is excellent with very low action and no buzzes or dead spots that I can hear. It has a new set of D'Addario rounds on it and the sound of this bass is outstanding. It is loud and clear with huge growl.
No wonder pros like Tony Kinal, Lee Sklar, George Hawkins and Michael Anthony have played these wonderful instruments for many years.
The bass will ship in a new SKB-44 Road Case (Retail $134.99) - http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...ELAID=60351391
There are absolutely no issues with this bass. It's a rare find and it could be yours! SOLD! - $750.00 including shipping and insurance in the continental US.
These are really getting hard to find so don't miss your chance!

Weight is 9.12 lbs. on my digital scale.
Not too bad for a vintage neck-through bass.
Also............ Scale is 34" and the string spacing is 19mm. |

You know Fenders from this same period sell for two or three times what I'm asking for this bass and honestly this one completely blows away most of the Fenders I have played.
Don't get me wrong as I still own both a Fender Jazz Bass and a Fender P-Bass and I enjoy them a lot.
It's just that if I had to pick just one four string, it would most certainly be one of these. When you solo the split neck pickup on this baby it will give any P-Bass a real run for the money tone-wise.

I have two other early 80's BB basses (BB-2000 and BB-2000 unlined fretless) one of which I bought new in 1982 (When I was only 32). This one is in better condition than either of my other two but I have emotional attachments to them so I'm letting this "nicer" one go! |

Use to own one of these babies, mine was SB, really like the red. great bass and a really comfy neck, kinda wish I still had mine. |

If you would prefer it without the SKB case I'll let you have it for and even $700.00 and throw in a gig bag to ship it in! |

Everyone is right...my early BB outplayed everything I ever owned including Fender Custom Shop, Zon, Modulus, Benavente, etc.

I just don't get why other basses that don't sound or play as good as these old Yamaha's cost so much and get so much attention.
This kind of quality is hard to come by at any price! |
