I've played this bass and it is pretty sweet!

Hans, are you sure you want to let this go?

The balance and the neck are pretty sweat - I'll probably kick myself when it goes but it's time to thin the herd.

Here are a couple more pictures.

The copper shielding really makes a big difference in reducing hum compared to other J's I have played.

You have an early ‘80’s Jazz?

I had a mid-90's Jazz for a short time. It didn't play as well as yours.

84's were made at Fullerton, yes?

T-Mac,

Yeah - '84' was it in Fullerton. Then Japan while I guess they setup shop in Corona.

That mid '90's wasn't one of them "Boner" basses was it?

(ha, ha - can't say that with a straight face)

Interesting - that's the original pickguard?

Oldrocker,

This is the pick guard I got with the bass.

I am not the original owner but I believe the pick guard is original.

I have three '83 - '84 P basses with a single ply white pick guard.

During the end of the Fullerton era they mixed and matched parts - I have seen some with partial plastic pick guards where the knob area is chrome.

For a year or 2 there in the earlier 80's, Fender put one piece, Strat-like pickguards on Jazz basses.

Your 'guard also has that vintage-y tint to it as well....it probably is original.

The pickguard and knobs are actually a bit more yellow than the photos show.

I bought a new set of white pickup covers that you would have to age somehow to get them to match the pickguard.

Shameless Bump

I'd rather have some playing it than sitting in its case.

Any offers?

Thanks,

Hans

Weight Question

I was asked the weight and figured I'd post for all - 9.4 lbs.

This bass is in excellent condition.

Please make an offer.

Thanks,

Hans

How's the neck in terms of straightness, truss rod health and fret wear?

Thanks!

Fret Wear/Neck Condition

Fret wear is absolute minimum. Frets have alot of meat on them and show no signs of string wear. I have only used GHS Pressure Wounds on it.

Truss rod works as I have had to and been able to make adjustments during change of seasons.

I keep the neck slightly concave and action medium low.

I hope this answers your questions.

Hans
