FS 1984 G&L L1000

Sign in to disble this ad
Front loaded 84 L1K, crinkle finish on bridge and control plate.
Maple bicut neck, very clean and straight, low action, no fret wear, truss rod functions properly. Body has usual dings and
small scratches, nothing serious. No checking on body, a few check lines on neck. All original hardware, some chrome missing on 2 knobs, volume knob in picture has been replaced with a stock one. Original hard shell case with keys.
Super light weight, probably under 9 lbs, I'll get an exact
weight over the weekend, and some better pictures.
$750
I'll split shipping.
Thanks
Don

G&L had that headstock in 1984? I'm not too sure of that but could be mistaken. Very sorry if i am. Thought '84 didn't have the point.

Well I own 4 L1000 all from the first year and like you the headstock gave me questions too.

But this may help answer the questions: Vintage G&L: 1984 L2000

The lawsuit headstocks ran from 80-82, after that they had the
nipple.

Yep, cafe racer knows wherof he speaks:

http://www.ggjaguar.com/l-2000.htm

Quote:
Like G&L's L-1000 bass, the L-2000 was given a face lift in late 1982. The one-piece neck with skunk stripe was abandoned and a redesigned two-piece maple neck with a more oval profile was introduced. The headstock was given an added curve to make it more distinguishable from “other” brands thus avoiding lawsuits from CBS-Fender Musical Instruments.
I think the confusion stems from the fact that production of the L1K dropped off pretty dramatically after '82 so you don't see many like this one. Pretty cool transitional model. Still has the front-loaded controls but with the later 'stock. Black crinkle is a bonus.

Sweet bass and a sweet deal. This shouldn't last long.

Hard to tell from the photos....what's the width at the nut? Were these all 1 11/16?

Hey Erik
This neck is exactly 1 5/8", I've seen some variation in early necks, some closer to 1 11/16".

Cripes, that would go beautifully with my two Black/Maple SB-2's! Alas, no spare cash despite the nice price.
