FS: 1984 G&L SB-1 bass, case

Sign in to disble this ad
I am selling my 1983 vintage USA G&L SB-1 bass, second generation (serial number is B013781) in sunburst, weights around 8.5-9 lbs. This bass is all original. The condition is very good for the bass which is 26 years old. There is a paint loss (wear) on the back and on the bottom, there are a few small dings on the edge the headstock. The neck looks great. The trust rod works fine, all the electronics works perfectly. I am selling it because I have too many basses and time to trim down. It sounds incredible, the pickups are really hot, just like a precision on steroid, killer tone. Comes with the original G&L hard case, the case is in good condition and works perfectly. Price to sell $695 shipped within the USA. Paypal accept. Please PM me if interested.
REDUCED TO $650 SHIPPED.

I looked (drooled) over the close up pictures and the pickups look different than the usual MFD pu cover. I looked online and the question is are these schallers or did MFDs have different shells?

Schaller PBX pickups are common in these.

nice bass!

the serial number puts it at 1983 according to the G&L website, but, as far as i know, the split P SB1 didn't come out til 1984. I thought 1983 and 1984 were all single coil SB1...one of which I have.

it's serial number dates it to 1983 as well, though i've never pulled it apart to look at the dates stamps.

I just played mine, about the same year as yours, last night at a get together. Wonderful sound. It's a great bass if you like a P but don't want to put up with poorer quality Fenders. Very comfortable bass to play. Mine is about 8 1/2 - 9 lbs also.

I love the shape of the body and the neck. But it's the pickup that really blows me away. Great sound. The guitarist and drummer were both amazed at the sound. First time they've heard me play this one.

Somebody should buy this bass.

I was actually trying to convince myself over the weekend that I need another SB-1 - I have an 89 and I love it to death! Never getting rid of it, there will always be a gig for a good precision bass.

I think I speak for many of us here that are relieved that this tempting sb-1 is gone.
