These were made in Japan, I think. Not top-of-the-line Charvel but WAY better than Korean Charvettes made of plywood. This is a solid body (Poplar, I think) bass guitar. Good 80s stuff.

very nice clean red 1b, if I didnt already have a ****load of charvels, including a red+maple like yours I would have bought it when you posted it. Hope you already sold it.

p.s. it is a 86/87, not a 85 they only made the "B" model series from 86 to 88. the serial would tell me when it was made 86 or 87
