FS: 1985 Rickenbacker 2030 Hamburg Bass *Price Drop*

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is a 1985 Rickenbacker 2030 'Hamburg' Bass. It is Jetglo and comes with original hardshell case. Bass appears to be all original. It has an amazing neck on it. Just picked this up from the original owner. Serial number dates it to October 1985. Bass has been played a ton and it has the wear to show it. No abuse, just honest play wear. No damage or cracks or repairs. Just plenty of scratches, nicks, dings, etc. Really a great looking bass and sounds and plays even better. Asking $825 shipped obo. Here are some specs I found online:

2030 "Hamburg"
(First Version)
This instrument is the bass version of Hamburg guitar.
Features: Two single coil pickups, active circuitry, 2 tone and 2 volume controls, selector switch, chrome plated hardware, Padouk fingerboard, 9 dot inlays, rear access control panel, and fixed bridge.
1984 - Introduced
1992 - Discontinued

I remember wanting one of those deperately back in the 80's. Never have seen one in real life. Free bump for a great overlooked treasure.

I'm pretty sure I'm never going to see another one of these for sale ever.

Ever since I figured out that Geddy Lee played one of these (or one similar) I have wanted one. Bad reason, I know, seeing as I've never heard one. :P

So do you have any sound clips?

Geddy played a 3001 for a short time on and off in the mid 70's. I don't think he's ever played a hamburg. These were rickenbacker's economy line in the mid 80's. They're great basses for what they cost, and they sound really good too.

Sorry, I don't have any clips available. It sounds and plays incredible though. I think they are VERY underrated and undervalued. Still available!!!

I can't tell from the photos. Is it a really dark navy blue? What did it sell for (if you don't mind)?

Mine is an 89, same model. Trying to figure out a good price for it.
