I had two of them( originals ) and one was a fretless five ( 1989 ) with birdseye wings in a candy apple red finish. The other was the red basic four that was on the old catalog for years. I had to sell them for various reasons and I always wanted to get back that fretless.
I also played a basic with the same exact woods as this but fretted, it was pretty amazing! I also prefer no lines on the fingerboard so this bass is like torture for me!
I only got into designing basses in 1992 because Mike had sold to Gibson. If he had stayed with it a few more years I would have had a six string and I would not have designed my first bass which ultimately led to me building them.
You have a really nice piece there, don't sell it! But if I had the cash....it would be gone already!!!
