Selling this 1991 Modulus Quantum 5 TBX. EMG's, all gold hardware. One very minor ding I only found when lighting it for photos. Small rough spot of about 3/4" in length on edge of headstock. No scratches or other wear other than the "EMG" type is wearing off the pickups a bit. Frets and neck are in amazing shape. Will consider trades but only for left handed basses (the only reason I'm selling it, I'm lefty). Shipped CONUS for $2700 or best offer. http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...us%20Q5%20TBX/ |

If it's not all original, that's not at all a bad thing. This was one of my first graphite basses, and I had high expectations of a bright punchy tone from the graphite. I remember being fairly disappointed with the tone and thought about swapping the pre, but didn't have the heart!!! I do remember the neck being nice and comfy, and the look of a graphite thru neck just blew me away!!! |

I bet this thing plays like butter. |

I saw the photos of your bass and checked the serial numbers... they were within 20 of each other but not the same. This bass is all original and incredible shape. I actually play a lefty bass strung for a righty. As a young kid, a righty was all I could get my hands on. I play guitar that way too.
Thanks for the nice words. I hope someone wants this baby... don't want to go to eBay. Also, I am very negotiable on the price. Just started out where some people said it should be. |

And here's yours:
So do you know anything about the electronics being modded? |

I only play passive basses and upright, so this is truly my first active and certainly the first time I've touched a Mod. I wouldn't know anything about how to tell that but I'm happy to look if you tell me what to look for.
Would also appreciate any details or praise you care to share to help other players lust for this baby!

I really have no clue if the whole preamp was changed, but I'd bet a kidney that the stacked volume pot has been changed. Mine did not have that and from your pics, it looks like a new pot.
My best guess is that this bass originally had the stock controls that come with EMG pickups- just vol, vol, tone. This looks as if it now has a proper (in my opinion) 3-band preamp. A 3-band pre and EMGs just go together! I'd love to hear this bass now!
And people, having a graphite thru neck is truly something to behold. It's a darn shame that Modulus stopped making these. I don't think you can get one as custom anymore either. I know they had an affiliated with Alembic back in the day as well to provide them with some custom neck-thru graphite basses. This is a rare gem! |

I can't tell which sound I like more, it truly sounds awesome. Playing it through a SVT4 Pro and a 410 Berg makes it even more enjoyable...
