SOLD! $625 plus shipping.
I'll ship internationally but shipping will be paid by the buyer, and the bass will probably have to ship disassembled without the case. International buyers PM me for a shipping quote, I'll knock off a few bucks for shipping without the case.
Got this in a trade from a fellow TB'er. I installed a new set of Fender / Schaller lightweight tuners, since the original B string tuner was missing. I also replaced the volume knobs, which were also missing.
The bass is in good shape considering it's 10+ years old at this point, but it does have a couple of marks on it. The main one is on the upper horn near the strap button, but it's hard to see and even harder to photograph. You probably can't see it from 5 feet away. One boo-boo on the back of the neck but it's hard to photograph - see the pics to get an idea.
The pickguard is "parchment" but has been painted black with Krylon Fusion paint. The edges have been scraped to maintain the B/W/B look, and it looks pretty good. The pickguard had a lot of scratches and fading, and I like the black look better. A new pickguard is under $40 online if you prefer white, or some paint thinner will take the black right off.
Everything works, pots are smooth, truss rod is good, action is medium-low. It's currently strung with brand-new EB Slinkies and it plays great. It sounds like a Jazz should, all passive electronics but surprisingly little noise. I had another '99 American V and I remember it being noisier than this one.
As much as I love this bass, I'm not a single-coil Jazz guy. Rather than hack it up and put a bunch of mods into it, I thought it would be better off in the hands of someone who would like an honest, USA-made passive 5 string Jazz Bass. It's Fender through-and-through, and sounds like a good Jazz Bass should.
Includes a Fender molded hardshell case.
