FS: 1994 Yamaha BB300 w/classic gig bag & leather strap

SOLD

$200 Paypal shipped CONUSA takes home a nice little Yamaha BB300 with a period correct "Yamaha" branded vinyl leatherette gig-bag and a funky leather strap.

Based on the serial # KL04078 "Made in Taiwan" this bass is either a 1994 or a 1984. Maybe a Yamaha guru can tell. I purchased it from the original owner who said he bought it when he was 25. He was definitely in his 40's so I think it may be a 1994.

The bass looks really good and plays very nice as well. The paint, fretwork, electronics, hardware, and gig bag are all in very nice shape. The neck is really sweet... great grain and gloss finish. The truss rod turns smoothly. There are some shallow scratches on the back of the bass, but nothing that could be called buckle rash. The topside of the body has the patina of a 17 year old bass with only the very light surface scratches that come from playing the bass. The only issue which should be fixed is that the nut is chipped on the E-string side. There is still enough intact to hold the E-string... but who knows how long it will stay that way. The tuners work well, but feel different than what I am used to. The turn smoothly but don't seem to "lock" into place until the strings come up close to tuned tension. They seem to hold tune once they are there. She weighs 9 lb. 8 oz. on my digital scale.

I'll include a bag containing what I believe are the original strings that came with the bass... They look very old and I have never seen a set quite like them. I pulled them off the bass and put on a set of somewhat more lively used roundwounds.

Let the pics speak for themselves... a nice bass.

If it says it was made in Taiwan then it's a '94 vintage. All the early '80's stuff was made in Japan.

Also those are "torque adjustable" tuners that require a special wrench to adjust. It hooks into the holes on the sleeve on the shaft and enables you to adjust their tightness. They probably need to be tightened which is why they feel loose until tuned up to pitch.

Bump for a great "workhorse" of a bass!

Thanks for the info. I thought it was likely a 1994. "Torque Adjustable" tuners makes sense. The tuners feel like they are nice quality, but I didn't research how to adjust them.
