I bought this bass recently and it was looking pretty beat up. It was very dirty and the finish was worn through and the maple itself was dirty. The ebony fingerboard had also been gouged by roundwounds.
So, I took the body down to the bare wood and refinished in Formby's Tung Oil (really oil/varnish finish). I sanded out many of the bumps and bruises, but it's not perfect as it is a 16 year old bass and I didn't want to change the shape of the body or any contours. As you can see the body came out great. It certainly doesn't look 16 years old.
I also planed the fingerboard keeping the stock radius and now the bass feels SUPER smooth with the DR Legend flats.
Its all tuned up, intonated, setup and ready to play!
