FS: 1998 MusicMan Stingray 5—Trans Teal

A 1998 Ernie Ball MusicMan Stingray 5. This was one of the very earliest "E" series serial numbers (E000X0). This bass is in nearly flawless condition, with just a few tiny “pencil-point” dings and one ¼” scratch (all on the back). The finish is a fairly dark Trans Teal. It is a very hard color to accurately photograph (it can lean towards green or towards blue depending on the light) but these photos are pretty close to the actual color. Has a stunning Birds Eye Maple neck without a mark on it, and frets with virtually no wear. Currently strung with Chromes. Weighs 9 ¾ lbs. on my postage scale. Included is the original tolex hardshell case, which is also in excellent condition.

Do you have a pic of the back that shows the dings? I'm very interested, but need to see more..oh and you have a PM...

Here are shots of the "dings" on the back. They are not quite as obvious to the naked eye as these photos suggest. There is also one thin smudge line that is about an inch long and about as wide as a pen line to the left of the battery compartment on the top photo. You can only see it from certain angles and I could not photograph it. The round blue dot on that photo is just a reflection.

I have a '97 version trans teal and it is one smokin' bass. I just love the birdseye from this period of EB.

The case doesn't look like a standard molded case. Did they have different cases back in '98?

The case in the photo looks just like the one for my '95 SR4 and my '97 SR5. You can tell by the way the the inside of the case is formed around the lower horn of the bass.

I was looking more at the flip latches. The new Music Man's have the molded case with the regular latches.
