FS: 1999 Warmoth PJ Bass, Birdseye Neck, Rosewood Board

Complete Warmoth parts bass. Built by Andrew Drake of Drake Custom Bass fame in Iowa as his main recording bass for many years and albums.

Details:
Black Alder Precision Body
Birdseye Maple Neck with Amazing Rosewood fretboard
1.5" at the nut, Tele cut headstock
21 Frets, MOP dots
Great "rolled" fretboard/frets feel
EMG P/J Pickup set (active pickups, 9V)
Passive VVT controls
Battery body in the back of the body
Schaller BML Tuners
Gotoh 201 Bridge
Roughly 9 pounds

Misc:
A few dings on the back of the body (pictures below)
The area under the pickguard has been cored (honeycombed) to reduce weight and give the bass a better tone. (This work was done by Mr. Drake himself, so it was done professionally)
Some wear on the pickguard around the treble side near the pickups from years of pick playing.

I love this bass but I no longer play maple necked basses, so this is being sold to fund a new warmoth wenge neck for another bass of mine. I used this as a backup bass to my Drake Custom for about a year, it only saw the stage about 4 times. I baby my gear, so the dings you see are from when Andrew originally owned the bass, but since they're in the back, you can't really see them. The neck on this thing is amazing in my opinion: great birdseye figuring and an even better rosewood board (one of the few I've loved the look of, great color).

This will be sold with a cheap Musicians Friend bass case mostly for shipping safety.

Price: $550 shipped to the CONUS only.

I've played this bass and it's sweet. I've also played Dave's Drake customs and Andrew Drake does excellent work. Bump!

That's a great looking bass. Nice photos of the fretboard too. I think I remember seeing this on craigslist a while back and being tempted then too.

I'm with Tim here. Having played one of Andrew's custom Drakes (amazing quality), I can only assume anything up to his standards must be phenomenal. Also, great price. GLWTS

Thanks for the kind words guys!

This is a great playing bass, amazing neck, good weight and great tone. It plays itself and is a great deal for what should be someone's main bass!

It plays itself?
Hmm. That would solve my "lack of talent" problem!
