FS: 2003 Lakland Skyline Hollowbody CAR with Barts The Story: I searched long and hard for this bass. My only reason for selling is that I managed to get a US hollowbody and my wife has this crazy idea that I don't need two. You've probably seen comments in threads saying that when comparing Skylines to US Laklands, the hollowbodies, particularly the early ones, seem to come closest in quality. Having the good fortune to have both a MIK and US, I can affirm that they are indeed neck and neck. Pun intended. Health Check: On March 16, I took this bass to Carl Pedigo (aka Chicago Bass Doctor, aka Lakland master luthier) for setup and inspection. He made minor tweaks to the bridge for intonation, said it needed nothing else, and so refused to charge for anything. Some highlights of this MIK Skyline:

The chrome pickup surrounds look a little "plasticy"... is that just a photo artifact or does it have something to do with the pickguard? Also, please check out my thread here and let me know what you think: WTB/WTT for Lakie HB |
Pretty sure I owned this bass last year. It was magic!! I have a us with barts and I liked the way this one sounded better. Beautiful bass. |

I own one of these 1st year Skylines (avatar) & the necks on these early ones are superb. :bassist: Also the pickup surrounds chromed metal not plastic, this is a great price & shouldn't last long. GLWTS! |

I REALLY miss my USA CAR Lakland Hollowbody. The barts are the bomb on these basses. This would be mine if I wasn't in the middle of a renovation. |
Lakland CAR is crazy nice! Also - Skyline HBs are the models that are closest to thier US counterparts of any Lakland bass! |
Another bump for my old bass! |
My gal is (candy apple) red hot! Your gal ain't doodley squat! |
1 Attachment(s) With a little overdrive, flatwounds, and palm muting or other bridge mute, you can get a killer upright-like tone with this bass, even without being fretless! Here's a sample pulled from a recording of my blues band a few weeks back. Do forgive my playing. Signal chain: Lakland HB w/ JO flats into Electronix Submarine into [sfx] Red Dragon for a touch of OD, into Eden Metro combo. Recorded on a Sony "voice memo" type mp3 recorder that was sitting on the singer's music stand about 12 feet from my amp. |
I just received one almost exactly like this in a trade and I must say this is an absolutely magnificent bass!! Even the high notes on the G string have real body to them! Highly recommended. |
Bumpage for a sweet HB!! |
