**I'm opening this up to shipping. Chicago-area offers are still preferred, but others are welcome to buy now too. Shipping will be an additional cost, calculated on a case by case basis. Expect ~$50 for domestic and ~$100-150 for international. I only have a gig bag for this, but I will take it to one of my favorite guitar shops to get it professionally packed.**
NO TRADES PLEASE.
This is a gorgeous bass that started its life out as a Warwick Corvette Standard 4 string bass with MEC pickups and standard Warwick hardware. I have since made several modifications to it, which include:
-DiMarzio Model J pickups in cream
-Hipshot Ultralite Tuners w/ D-Tuner
-Solid Graphite nut (the Adjust-A-Nut broke)
-Full shielding and grounding in the electronics cavity
The bass has a beautiful Bubinga body, an Ovangkol neck and a Wenge fretboard. It was built in Germany in April of 2004. It weighs 10 pounds. The whole bass was recently set up and cleaned. It has medium-low action that is a delight to play and all of the frets are in great working order. The sound on this bass is amazing--a definite upgrade from how it originally sounded with the stock pickups. Lots of low end "growl" yet enough definition that it can blend into any musical setting. The new hipshot tuners make it a breeze to tune and also make playing in drop-D very convenient.
The bass comes with:
-One brand new Warwick rockbag (
ROCKBAG RB 20605 B E-BASS - Thomann UK Cyberstore)
-The original MEC pickups and the original Warwick tuning pegs
-The original warranty card, user's guide, trussrod tool and set of allen wrenches
-A (nearly empty ) tin of wax. I waxed the bass every few months for the first few years of its life. It shouldn't need too much waxing now, but it can't hurt to do it once in a while.
Asking: $630
Please message me with any questions or if you'd like to test out the bass.
Edit: Update: As you can tell from the pictures, I used to have a strap screwed onto the bass, but I just took it to a tech and had him install brand new strap buttons instead. Disclosure: There is a very small screw hole on the front of the headstock below the G string tuner from when I installed the new tuners and drilled too far. It's barely noticeable and certainly doesn't affect how anything works or sounds.
