FS 2003 Zon Sonus 5 - Redwood Top, Bartolini, Graphite/Composite Neck LOWER PRICE

2003 Zon Sonus 5 (mistake in the title)

Its on EBAY - Free Shipping

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_568wt_1167

Hello all -

This is the second posting of this sale, just wanted to clean up the original post and take the price out of the title.

I bought this Zon Sonus 5 used locally a few months back, but I just can't afford to keep it. Its a joy to play, but other expenses have to be taken care of. The previous owner bought it new, so I'm the second owner.

Trades I might be interested in:
Modulus VJ4
Lakland Duck Dunn
Lakland Glaub

Like I said, its an amazing instrument. Beautiful clear tone, very consistent tone from all the strings/frets, no dead spots, etc. There are a few cosmetic notes to make: First, there are some chips in the coating on the headstock, which I took pictures of. Second, there is a nick near the volume knob. Its very small and you only notice it very close up. Third, there are two strap buttons on the bridge side. The previous owner installed the second to help with balance i guess, and I definitely used the one he installed. Last, in the pics the screw to the B saddle is missing, but I just got it in the mail from Zon, so thats taken care of.

Otherwise, she's a beauty. It was difficult to get a consistent picture of the redwood; some of the pics make it look lighter, but its a deep brown/red, more brown than red. Its really pretty, even my girlfriend was amazed. The first pic is the best to get an idea of the color and the cool horizontal and vertical grains

Let me know if you have any questions. I just posted a fake auction on ebay so any interested buyers can see my ebay feedback (gigman32). Thanks

Also, for those wondering about the low B, its taut and devastating. For me at least!

Thanks
Bryan

Specs:
Sonus 5
34" scale
17mm String Spacing
1.875" width at the nut
2.875" width at the 24th fret
ZB3 active electronics made for Zon by Bartolini
Master volume, pickup blend, stacked bass/treble
No Truss Rod (However, its very straight and perfect for me. Previous owner said it hadn't moved since he bought it)

I'm pretty sure '04 is the year Zon started using truss rods. Unless the neck was made just beforehand, there might be a truss rod at the heel of the neck. Have you tried removing it from the body?

+1!!!

This, with a truss rod, would be a pretty hot commodity.

Dystopiate-

After I was asked about a truss rod last week I did take the neck off to check the heel...no truss rod. Maybe this is a 2003? Like I said, I bought it used and the previous owner said it was a 2004. Maybe he bought a new 2003 model in 2004? Not sure. If anyone is curious about the production year I'd be happy to contact Zon and get the serial checked.

Yeah, I'm realizing how inconvenient it is that the bass lacks a truss rod. Not helping the sale. From my point of view though, after playing this bass for a while, I'd be surprised if many people would be unhappy with the neck relief. Granted, I understand the concern, but its perfect for me, and the guy before me said this was his main bass for the last 5 years.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

LSU, thanks for the help. I checked the serial and found that this bass is a 2003 Zon Sonus 5. Also, bump for a lower price. Thanks

If it were a 4 string, maybe, but I'm not playing any 6's now. Thanks for the offer though

Oops, just bass and treble stacked. I use a separate preamp and leave the bass eq in the middle, thought it was three stacked. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks

Bryan
