FS: 2005 Alembic Brown Bass w/Green LEDS

I've thought long and hard about this. I'm going to Europe for half a year, very possibly much longer, and I have no interest in risking bringing my expensive bass to get damaged/stolen/destroyed. It seems a waste to have this sit in storage while I'm gone, and I probably will need the money as well. Besides, there will be other great basses in the future. Probably not a Brown Bass though, it took me half a year to find this.

So I'm selling my 2005 Alembic Brown Bass with green LEDs:

Neck: 5-piece Maple, Walnut and Mahogany.
Walnut Headstock Overlay w/ Alembic Logo
Fingerboard: Ebony w/ Abalone Oval Inlays
Green side LEDs
Body Core: Myrtle
Top/Back: Walnut
Finish: Natural Oil Finish

Scale Length: 30.75"
Width at Nut: 1.5"
String Width at Bridge: 2.1"
Overall Length: 42"

This bass has amazing action and is super smooth to play. A joy to play. Easiest bass I've ever played.

This is in perfect playing condition. I recently sent this to Alembic because of a neck relief issue, which they fixed perfectly.

Cosmetically, the only real issue is that it received a nasty ding and a few smaller ones from the ship there and back because of the case I sent it in (see pics). Since this has a natural finish it's probably easy enough to buff out and refinish.

There is also a place near the pickups where my thumbnail has rubbed off some of the natural finish (also see pics). I'm sure that a careful application of oil finish is all that it needs. There are some minor scratches on the back brass plate. Other than that there are a few hard-to-find minute dings and scratches.

This comes with a OHSC in excellent condition.

CONUS buyers: I'm asking $4,200 + shipping, but am open to reasonable offers.

European buyers: I will be in Ireland from August 19th to 21st and can bring the bass with me if you can meet me between those dates. I am asking 3100 Euros which includes airline oversized luggage fees. In addition, I am asking for a 300 euro down-deposit before I get on the plane.

Paypal or cash only please.

If you are anywhere near Albuquerque, you should come check it out in person!

The only trades that I could remotely consider would be:

+$ trade for an iPhone 3G (need a GSM/VoIP phone for Europe)
+$ trade for decent 4-string travel beater. Meaning some 4 string bass that plays fine but is beat up so I wont have to care about it being broken/lost/stolen.
+$ trade on a decent travel bass (i.e. steinberger)

If you buy at the asking price, I will include a ATA rated case designed for a distillate. It needs to be repadded for the Stanley Clarke shape (this is why the Brown got damaged) but that's certainly cheaper than purchasing a new one.

Here are the pics:

And the boo-boo

Bump.

If anyone is wondering, the bump can be seen on the second picture, left of the southern-most part of the bass on the picture, where one can make out a sort of grayish dot.

Looks like the dog bit it. However, I can hold it for you until you get back from Europe.

As long as I can "hold" your money in the meantime.

If by "bit" you meant "hit repeatedly while transported by UPS" and by "dog" you meant "inside of the ATA case latch mechanism", you'd be right!

Final price drop. One week left before I go. I don't know if I'll still make it available to CONUS buyers after I leave, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to deal with international shipping.

Dammit.
This is pretty much precisely what I've been after for years.

It's still available as it is, seeing if I can get the asking price. I will probably make this available for CONUS buyers only after I leave (I'm still only about 50.01% certain I want to sell it. Though I was considering buying a Jerzy Drodz in Spain.... ), as the bass will be at my parents who can ship it if I ask. I'm not going to ship it to Europe, so European buyers only have until Monday!

Well, I've been playing the hell out of this bass over the last few weeks, and I think I want to hang on to her for when I get back. If and when I change my mind I'll repost this, but for now this thread is closed.
