I'm putting this tremendous tone machine back up again for sale. This is a great bass in excellent condition. There is one small blemish/dent on the upper arm rest (see pic) but it is not visible from the front nor does it effect playability of this fine bass.
Quick facts: Olympic White, tortoise pickguard, all original Fender hardware, original Fender case (most of the case candy), Ken Smith Burner taperwound rounds. I have a set of flatwounds that came with it - will throw those in (yellow winding, don't know the brand). AND a John East P-Retro preamp, personally inspected by the man himself (first one had a battery issue - JE personally dealt with me and sent a new one and voila! - works excellent).
With the East in passive, sounds like a Pbass without a preamp including a passive tone adjust. In active, sounds vary from boosted passive to a wide palate of sweepable mids, boosted bass and clean highs. This thing allows the Pbass to cut through in any situation - too loud guitar player, too loud key player, etc. Finding the pocket with this bass is very easy with a turn of a knob. And you can tweak the bass boost to the exact Freq you desire. And the passive tone knob still works in active, so you can roll off the tone to please. Another plus is no more batteries - comes with it's own charger that plugs into the 1/4" jack. I have only charged it once since owning it...long battery life. Plus, if the battery dies, back to passive controls without any loss of signal (just loss of preamp boost).
Anyway, I am selling this bass for two reasons: 1) I've begun playing guitar much more frequently and have no need for three five-string basses, and 2) I need funds to purchase more guitar gear. See, good reasons - got too many basses and need the money (although, can you really have too many basses?).
In answer to a possible question, I really, really, really don't want to take the P-Retro out of this bass. Also, not looking for trades initially unless I see something that is too good to pass up.
That said, I am asking
$1,150 $1,050 shipped lower 48 USA. Paypal is preferred. As an aside, the Pbass AMV sells used around here for $900-$1,000. The P-Retro sells new for $295, so asking is very fair I think. Plus I take shipping very seriously and will package the bass so no issues (see positive feedback - always pack like I want it packed).
Thanks for looking!!
