I recently got this bass in a trade and the extra string is just not working for me. The original thread is: FT: Fender American Standard Jazz V
It is in really nice shape and plays great. I did install the seymour duncan stc-2p preamp and while I love the way it sounds and plays, I just keep stumbeling with the fiver.

The picture made it look much worse than it actually was. |

The Duncan Pre was installed before I bought it, a pro job done right. Grooveguru switched it back to passive but wisely kept the pre with the bass. The STC-2p is a very transparent and subtle preamp and suits the bass well, a great enhancement to the bass for sure! I am glad to see that tlaubs has re-installed it. |

Also, I really agree with your take on the preamp. It is very trasparent and keeps the voice of Jazz and sounds passive with a tone control when rolling off the treble. However, you also have the option of boosting the treble or boost/cut the bass. |
