I recently got this bass in a trade and the extra string is just not working for me. The original thread is:

FT: Fender American Standard Jazz V

It is in really nice shape and plays great. I did install the seymour duncan stc-2p preamp and while I love the way it sounds and plays, I just keep stumbeling with the fiver.

Asking $900 shipped CONUS

Can send more pictures on request.

Well I am not sure how to post pictures, but here is a link to some. Also, not really looking for trades but will consider sale offers.

just a clarification -- did you fill in the string tree hole shown on the original post? If so, you did a great job; can't tell any telltale signs from the pic! thanks.

I did fill the string hole with maple wood filler, but it was not very noticeble to begin with because it was under the B string.
The picture made it look much worse than it actually was.

Not sure, but if this used to be Double E's bass, I've played it...
Very nice bass!

Killer price, too!

This was my bass! It is a great player.

The Duncan Pre was installed before I bought it, a pro job done right. Grooveguru switched it back to passive but wisely kept the pre with the bass. The STC-2p is a very transparent and subtle preamp and suits the bass well, a great enhancement to the bass for sure! I am glad to see that tlaubs has re-installed it.

Thanks guys, it really is a great bass and would be a keeper if I could get comfortable with a fiver.

Also, I really agree with your take on the preamp. It is very trasparent and keeps the voice of Jazz and sounds passive with a tone control when rolling off the treble. However, you also have the option of boosting the treble or boost/cut the bass.
