I recently picked this up off of TB a few months ago and the newer Fenders are everything that people are making them out to be. I absolutely LOVE the new finish. The coating of Poly is ultra-thin, which helps the resonance of the instrument and I think the the light poly let's it breathe better than nitro, plus it doesn't get sticky. I've had a lot of basses and this is definitely the nicest three tone sunburst I've seen. Also, the fretboard is a really nice dark rosewood.
The previous owner stated that pickups are Nordys. It had a preamp in it when I got it, but I switched it out for a passive setup from Butch over at Bayou Cables. I just didn't use the preamp, the bass sounds too good passive! They've really upped the build quality on these too. The neck pocket is nice and tight and the overall fit and finish is on par for a custom in the $2000 range. I recently setup it up with medium/low action and DR nickel Lo-Riders. It plays and sounds great! I'm going to rate it at 8.5 out of 10 as there are some minor dings and dents, including some small dings on the bottom edge, but it looks like a brand new bass from a couple feet away. There is also a crack running across the pole pieces of the pickup covers from being over tightened at some point. They're only cosmetic. It'll ship in an unused OHSC. It's new kind that everyone is raving about.
The only reason I'm selling this bass is I'm moving into a new home next month and I'm getting married. I need money something fierce!
Price: $799 plus shipping. I take paypal and money orders.
