FS: 2009 Fender Custom Shop Jazz Transparent Bing Cherry

***UPDATE as of Sept 8, 2011: this bass is SOLD***

I do this alot. I buy brand new stuff, put it in my non-smoking home just to "have it", and then I turn around and sell it maybe six months to a year later. My wife just shakes her head (hey, there are worse hobbies to have, right?) Anyway, I just bought this brand new transparent bing cherry Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass last year. It is a 2009 model that I bought from a music store (note that the Custom Shop certificate shown in the pic I posted farther down the thread shows 2008 as date of manufacture, but the store I bought it from didn't receive it until 2009, and I bought it new in 2010 from that store). And of course, as soon as I bought it, I had to upgrade the preamp to a John East J-Retro Deluxe (wired for 18 volts for lots of headroom) and upgrade the two pickups to Lollar single coils (a total of nearly $500 in upgrades.....all gear purchased brand new). The Lollars sound incredible....best jazz bas tone I have ever heard. The stock preamp and pickups will be included in the sale. I also ordered a pearloid thumbrest from a guy in England and epoxied it to the pickguard (no screws or screw holes....just the screw heads are epoxied in to "look" like the thumbrest is screwed on....that way, if you ever wanted to not have a thumbrest, you could just swap out the pickguard). I have played this bass maybe a dozen times for band practice only. Never gigged. It is still essentially brand new. The only scratch (that was made by me) is on the chrome piece in the control knob area (it is hard to get it to show in the pics). If you are looking for an essentially brand new Fender CS Jazz but don't want to pay the new price, then this is it! I question my sanity in selling this, but I need to pay some bills, so I am putting it up for sale, along with some other bass gear that I have. I am asking $1950 shipped CONUS. Includes the Fender hardshell case that came with the bass. I have over 80 feedbacks on the bay, all 100% positive. I am located in the Sacramento area of California. I accept Paypal. No trades as I need the cash to pay some bills.

Ya know, I seem to recall weighing it when I first got it, and I believe it was 9 and some change.
