FS: 2009 Warwick Corvette Standard 5 Ash Natural (Lots of pictures!)

Sign in to disble this ad
Warwick Corvette Standard, 5 strings, Ash body in natural finish, ovangkol neck, wenge fretboard. Passive J/J with volume, blend, and tone controls. In very good condition, just a few small nicks here and there from being played and a slight bit of discoloration on the tip of the bottom horn. I just waxed the body about 3 weeks ago and installed new Warwick Black Label medium gauge strings. This has the new neck profile, so it's actually a rather thin neck (front to back) and not the "baseball bat" profile most associate with Warwicks. I bought this used, and I have the rockbag gig bag that comes with Warwicks. everything's fully functional, just a little faded looking. I also have a partly used can of wax. I do not have the user kit or straplocks unfortunately.

Asking $600 + shipping. CONUS only (no exceptions). Would prefer outright sale, but some trades I'd be interested in are: Sterling by Musicman SB14 or Ray35, SUB Stingrays/Sterlings, lightweight amps/combos (G-K MB combos, Markbass heads, Genz-Benz heads or shuttle combos, etc.). Feel free to shoot me any other offers. Not looking to add cash, but may consider trades + cash on your end.

Here are a lot of pictures, trying to show as much detail as possible. There are a couple other minute dings that I've been unable to get to show in pictures, but these are the bigger ones.

Brass frets:

Ovangkol neck grain with ugly couch:

You can see how thin the new necks are!

Some of the scratches on the bass:

Above the bridge pickup

Under the g string

Backside of the upper horn

Weird depression on upper contour (no clue what happened here)

And finally, the faint black smudge on the bottom horn

Correct, german made. And no clear coat, it's just the oil finish, so it does need the waxing. I prefer these finishes over the stains personally.

I have a Ray35, and this is tempting! I love my Ray tone, but Corvettes are pretty sweet too. If I only had more money.

Rethinking getting rid of this, but still leaving it up for sale for the moment. Let's see what you've got to offer!

According to Warwick's website, the nut is 45mm, which is approximately 1.78" according to my units converter. String spacing is 16.5mm. Weight, according to my cheap bathroom scale, is 7.6lbs. It's a lightweight for a Warwick.

Wow. That is light - but man that is some tight string spacing - seems tight for a 45mm nut, thanks. Still a great looking bass that is tempting me!

It's the standard 'wick spacing/nut size, which is pretty tight. I find it comfortable for my technique when playing fingerstyle or with a pick, but slapping can get a little cumbersome. The bridge does allow adjustable spacing, so I could widen it a bit (as I did with my old $$), just haven't gotten around to doing it. It does help though.
