Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD: A 2010 Rickenbacker 4003 in Mapleglo.

Description: This instrument has seen minimum playing time and is in as-new/mint condition. The 2010 Rics have a thinner, faster neck and a double truss-rod for increased stability; they also feature a push-pull Vintage Tone Selector for enhanced low-end response. Deluxe triangle block inlays. Walnut-wing headstock. Pickguardian aftermarket bridge pickup plates installed. Comes with OEM pickup covers, manual, hang tag, original reciept, and OEM hardshell case. Balances perfectly with no neck dive. Weight between 8.5 and 9 lbs. The bass has been recently set up and the action is low.

A PDF of the manual may be found here.

History: I purchased this bass on a whim back in July. I'd always wanted to try a Ric, and was looking for one with the improved neck design and the enhanced tone options. It's an amazing instrument, but I simply don't play it enough to justify keeping it. I am the second owner; the first owner, also a TB member, purchased it from Pic of the Rics in June of this year.

Price: $1600 shipped. Cash for a local sale. Paypal okay. CONUS only. No trades, please.

I invite interested parties to contact me with any questions that they may have. In the meantime, some pics:

Monday bump for a bass I previously owned. It's a nice bass great sounding one too w a thin neck somewhat comparable to a late '70's 4001.

Tough market for Ricks at the moment. Good luck on this one, it's a real beauty. I thought I didn't like MG until I saw one in person not long ago. It kind of made me regret the JG.

Thanks for the kind words and the good wishes. It's a gorgeous instrument that sounds great and plays like a dream, so it won't be too disappointed if I have to keep it.

Who put the pickguardian on, weary or gen? I kind of like the looks of that! I've got a '06 Jetglo on it's way with no pickup cover but the cover, a bezel, and pickguardian are being sent with the guitar. I definitely don't want to leave it like it is with the gaping holes, but of all 3 options, I think I might go with the pickguardian. Opinions, advice? Thanks guys.
Jack

PS. Is the case in good condition weary?

I felt the same way lousy about the MPs. Once I got a 4004 and saw it in person, it's really nice! Still like the blue color the best, but they are hard to find at a reasonable price.

Just curious weary, the two 4003s I've had, both 2010s, the G and E string volumes were lower than the D and A. I could not get to the bridge pickup with the cover on to adjust the poles. Have you noticed that with yours? Of course with no cover there is no issue to adjust the poles.

Hey Jack. . . sorry I didn't respond to your PM--I've been crazy busy at work. Gen's answered your questions, but one point bears repeating--this baby is like new, including the case and the yellow Ric polishing cloth!

Edit: As Gen also said, the volume on this bass is even from string to string.
Edit again: I really like the Pickguardian pup plate--in terms of function it works perfectly, and in terms of aesthetics it's clean and complements the pickguard quite nicely.
