FS: 32" Bordwell Ball, Nordstrand - Aguilar

Sign in to disble this ad
A really sweet medium-scale Cliff Bordwell Ball Bass, time for me to accept that I'm simply always going to be a 34" old dog. Nordstrand Fat Stacks and an Aguilar OPB-3 preamp, this little guy does just about anything. Quartersawn maple neck with decent flame, ebony board, holly top, and a nice swamp ash body all in a very comfy 7 1/2 pound package. In excellent shape with no dings or dents or drool spots, I'm the original owner and haven't played it out more than a dozen or so times. Includes a well fitting TKL hard case, a little frayed around the edges but so am I and that is what cases are for anyway.

$1650 shipped and insured in the CONUS, not too interested in trades but if the right USA Lakland Glaub or Osborn was available we could probably work something out.

I don't need this, and I can't afford this. But god do I want this.

I have a 6.5 pound Bordwell 'S' bass that I love. 34" scale. I have been wanting to try one of his 32" basses, in fact, I was going to have him build me one, but I couldn't quite pull the trigger yet.

How is the neck stability on this bass? I have had a lot of seasonal movement with ebony myself. My bordwell has the most stable neck I have ever owned. I love it. It never moves, but it isn't ebony.

Very solid necks, yessir. When I got it I dialed in +/- a few thousandths both ways just to see how it responded and then put it back to essentially flat, haven't touched the truss rod since. The humidity where I live doesn't vary too much (although the temperature does - thanks a lot for the next few days, Canada...) so most necks and boards pretty well stay put. Fun basses, indeed.

1.6" with a fairly slim "C" profile, around .850" deep at the first fret and .900" at the twelfth.

Pretty middle-ish on the tension, I've never had anything but Lo-Riders on it so a change would likey make things a bit more or less tight.
